What is a 3bet? Holdem Indicator new stats. PDF Print E-mail

Holdem Indicator has added some new tracking statistics to it's feature set to help more sophisticated cash game players monitor certain profiles better. The new stats included are 3bet percentage and fold to 3bet percentage. Steal percentage with fold to steal percentage being added soon as well. And finally Cbet percentage and fold to Cbet percentage.

These 3 statistics will be most useful to cash game players but tournament players will likely be able to use the steal and cbet stats as handy information as well. By the way, tournament indicator will also get a similar update soon. So what is a 3bet? This is a common question for new poker players and it can essentially be explained by saying it is a reraise or the 3rd raise in a betting round. if the betting round is preflop, the big blind is considered the first bet, then a raise is considered the second bet, and if there is yet another raise - a RERAISE, well that is the 3bet.This is an aggressive move which usually indicates a strong hand, but you never know. If a player thinks you will fold to a 3bet after you raised, they may be making a move on you.

Post flop the 3 bet works a little different because there is no big blind then. So it would have to be bet, raise, then reraise to be considered a 3 bet. In other words 3 players enter the pot voluntarily with bets. Most 3bet stats are considered more important preflop and Holdem Indicator ONLY tracks 3bets preflop for that very reason.

In cash games the 3bet stats can be VERY important especially at tables where you are playing with 50bb's or more because there is a lot of folding equity, allowing for opponents to get a way from a hand. In tournaments you rarely are above 50bb, so the 3bet stat may not be that useful becuase in most confrontations you are just going to be pot committed when you are that involved in a hand.

Have a look at the video below which shows how Holdem Indicator tracks 3bets and fold to 3bets, as well as steal and cbet tracking too. Either way, these stats are adding some more arsenal to an already powerful tool.

Poker calculator review quotes:

"You would think with guys like Gus Hansen and Phil Ivey tossing it up on Full Tilt every night with hundreds of thousands of dollars at Omaha tables there would be a demand for such an enormous product, but outside of the two big sites, Omaha tournaments are rather thin. That being said, next to hold'em it is the choice of games and is a natural step for players to expand their skill and game repertoire. So from here, it only has UP to go." - from Omaha Indicator
