Are my outs really my outs in the software? PDF Print E-mail

I Love the Tournament Indicator poker software as it is really helping my tournament game, but I do have a question for you Marty. When you hit a flop, it combines all of the cards that "help your hand" and gives you the pot odds. Fine, I like that, but, I do find sometimes that there are cards that will "help my hand", but that I dont see as outs.

For example, I have 78, on a board of A96. Now, if I think my opponent has an ace, I don't think that hitting a 7 or an 8 is going to put me ahead. But the indicator combines the three 7's and three 8's in my odds calculation. All I actually want to know is whether I'm getting the odds to hit the 10 or the 5.

Now, what I think, is that you should be able to select or unselect outs. So when the flop comes down, I'd untick the 7 and the 8 as possible outs - then the calculator would recalculate my pot odds based around the possibility of hitting the 10 or the 5 only. I then have the right information to make the call or not.

Any thoughts?

TurtleKnife responds:

Outs are not what necessarily will put you ahead in the hand - you will always have to determine that yourself. However Tournament Indicator does calculate specific draws in the drawing graph underneath the profile grid.

You can navigate to it anytime by clicking on the vertical tab bar on the far left that says ODDS. Once you are in a hand and you see the flop, this graph will show you the likelihood of hitting any of your draws. In your example, you would only be looking at your probabilities to hit a straight and it will show it there.

Poker calculator review quotes:

"You would think with guys like Gus Hansen and Phil Ivey tossing it up on Full Tilt every night with hundreds of thousands of dollars at Omaha tables there would be a demand for such an enormous product, but outside of the two big sites, Omaha tournaments are rather thin. That being said, next to hold'em it is the choice of games and is a natural step for players to expand their skill and game repertoire. So from here, it only has UP to go." - from Omaha Indicator
