Zynga is a social gaming software company that has been on an aggressive acquisition spree of not only other related gaming businesses, but also a stock building of talent, most recently noted by the hiring of the team that created the backbone for PokerTableRatings.com. PokerTableRatings.com allows online poker players to research their opponents records across multiple poker sites.

Zynga came to prominence as a FaceBook application and is currently the most played poker and blackjack game with FaceBook users. Combining social networking, exciting game graphics and animations, as well as a leading programming team Zynga seems a natural fit to enter the REAL world of online poker and with these latest talent pick-ups.

Now as you may know, online poker is in the USA is illegal in the greyest sense of the concept, so Zynga likely has no immediate plans for entering the market until all that is cleared up. But all of the pieces are certainly in place to make a quick and possibly huge impact in the USA market, since it is an American company. That would bode well for States and casinos looking to form partnerships under new laws with companies that operate locally, not from an off-shore entity.

Just check out all of the acquisitions Zynga has been making over the last year and try and tell me a company more qualified to take a major piece of the USA online poker market. When you take a team of successful online poker programmers (from MarketZero - PokerTableRatings) and bring them into the fold you would think they did not do that by promising them they will be able to help make FaceBook games for teenagers. My bet is they sold them on the idea of an eventual push into a competitive space with Full Tilt and PokerStars software giants.

Just my thoughts so far.

Poker software review quotes:

Online poker hasn't really been around for too long, maybe a decade or so, but as soon as it was, clever programmers were thinking about designing online poker software tools that could not only produce a winning edge for a player, but stretch the meaning of fair play.

Well the best poker software tools have survived an era of audacious claims made by many fly-by-nighters. Poker software like Poker Tracker, Holdem Manager and Tournament Indicator have achieved real staying and power market share largely due to following the rules set out by online poker rooms such as Full Tilt Poker and Poker Stars, yet they have displayed evidence of creating clear advantages for those who use the tracking software.
