Known industry wide as the most strict poker site in regards to allowing third-party software access their information, Poker Stars recently updated their list of acceptable poker calculators that are allowed to be used on their website.
Some of the recent additions to the acceptable list which were formerly not allowed, are Magic Holdem, Poker Calculator Pro, and PokerEval. In regards to Magic Holdem, the designers heeded my advice when in my previous two reviews of the software, I noted that it's a software actually offered recommendations, then that would put them in violation of poker stars rules.
So obviously it took them a couple years to make up for that error, and finally Poker Stars has now acknowledged that the poker calculator software made the change, and is now under the acceptable list.
The stars list for acceptable software has grown quite a bit in this latest update, dated May 11, 2010. One of the reasons for the increase is several additions to add on software to Holdem Manager and Poker Tracker, new releases by the Indicator group, namely Stud Indicator and Omaha Indicator, and licensed versions of software that simply go by another name.
Still on the list of unacceptable software to use at Poker Stars, are Holdem Hawk, Holdem Pirate, ICM-Bot, and HQ, Sit and Go Shark, Poker Sherlock, and Poker Edge and Poker Crusher, which are versions of each others well. |
