Poker Stars latest update has handed a number of third party software designers some major headaches. Included in the update is a fundamental programming change to the Poker Stars chat box which the best poker software designers utilize to gather information for their products.
This includes betting, player IDs, stacks sizes, pot sizes, and community cards, etc. Third party software relies on open networking of information available for such sites.Although most of the poker calculators effected are on Poker Stars list of approved software, it doesn't mean that Poker Stars has to be so public and open with their software changes and schedules of such.
Poker Stars routinely updates thier software for maintenance and feature improvements, just like most other poker sites. This latest update took place at about 6:00AM EST December 9th.
Programmers and designers can contact me here if they would like to get on the list of community efforts to crack this latest situation.

Online poker hasn't really been around for too long, maybe a decade or so, but as soon as it was, clever programmers were thinking about designing poker tools that could not only produce a winning edge for a player, but stretch the meaning of fair play.
Well the best poker software tools have survived an era of audacious claims made by many fly-by-nighters. Poker software like Poker Tracker, Holdem Manager and Tournament Indicator have achieved real staying and power market share largely due to following the rules set out by online poker rooms such as Full Tilt Poker and Poker Stars, yet they have displayed evidence of creating clear advantages for those who use the tracking software.
