Sun137 from the forum explains how he uses two poker software products together while playing online poker tournaments. He combines Tournament Indicator and Holdem Manager to create a full array of current and database driven hand information to assist your game at the table and to improve your analytical game away from the table.

Tournament Indicator is an excellent product (I now use it in together with HM).

Ref HM, this may help. I posted my selections in the TI HUD post in the TI Section starting 22nd Sep:

"I agree - it is critical to use another package with the HI/TI/OI software.

I have always (as mentioned in other threads) used TI/HI/OI with other software that have a HUD - originally Poker Office, then Poker Tracker, but now I am a convert to Holdem Manager - BBB, I should have listened to you a few months ago.

I use HI/TI/OI on the historical setting and the other software (HM) on current setting.

I put the name in Yellow and the Hands in White. I do NOT use the prefix as it takes up space.

I colour code my on screen stats in the same way as the Core Set colours - RED/BLUE/GREEN/YELLOW - so that I can see at a glance how tight/loose/successful or not they are. For example:

Flop Continuation Bet %

RED...............0-25%
BLUE..............26 - 50%
GREEN............51 - 75%
YELLOW..........over 75%

I use (in 5 on screen rows):

Name
Hands/Winnings/Win Rate
VPIP/PreFlop Raise/Agression Factor/WTSD/W$SD
Flop Continuation Bet/3 Bet/Steal
Fold to FCB/Fold to 3 Bet/Fold to Steal in SB/Fold to Steal in BB

The screen stats do not crowd my screen as they are on a low setting, but a quick glance at the COLOURS a player has is all the indication I need.

As Marty points out, the use of POPUPS is an excellent way to gain information quickly - and the HM popups by position for each stat are awesome, as are the HI/TI/OI colour coded pop up stats.

I do not make notes during a game - I find it impossible with more than 1 table - but I make notes during my post game reveiw in HM (as I did in PT) and export them to the site.

Information is useful, but too much information can destroy the decision making process. It is important to get the balance right - always remember your skill and ability come first, the ability to use and apply information second."

End of post (I have updated the stats I use as they now include 3 bets)

The reason I use the R/B/G/Y colours in that sequence for Tight-Loose or Small-Large is because they match the CORE SET Hand Selection colour sequence. The 25%-100% applies to WTSD, W$SD and rows 3&4.

If you wish to code rows 1&2 (excl WTSD/W$SD), use R/B/G/Y again, but from 0 upwards for Hands/VPIP/PFR/AF and -VE upwards for Winnings/Win Rate (use RED for -9999 - 0. B/G/Y for positive numbers). The numbers above 0 wll have different ranges:

Hands.......R(0-50), B(51-100), G(101-500), Y(501+)
Won.........B(0-100), G(101-500), Y(501+)
BB/100.....B(0-4), G(5-10), Y(11+)
VPIP.........R(0-10), B(11-25), G(26-50), Y(51+)
PFR..........R(0-7), B(8-15), G(16-25), Y(25+)
AF............R(0-1), B(1-1.5), G (1.6-3), Y(3.1+)

It is not an exact science, you can play around with the numbers to match your idea of tight-loose-very looose-maniac

I have opacity set to the right, scale font at 6 Tahoma (but arial is fine) and use the same for all defualt options. Preferred seat is 1/3/5/5 for Full Tilt and 1/3/4/5 for Stars. I put in my hero name and selected 'Launch Hud with auto import' and 'Close Hud on Exit' I also tick the box which says 'Fix my Stats position'.

That should do for starters - see how it goes and add/change/delete as you wish. Everyone needs stats to suit their game and we are all different.

There is a help guide with Holdem Manager which is excellent as well.

Poker software review quotes:

Online poker hasn't really been around for too long, maybe a decade or so, but as soon as it was, clever programmers were thinking about designing online poker software tools that could not only produce a winning edge for a player, but stretch the meaning of fair play.

Well the best poker software tools have survived an era of audacious claims made by many fly-by-nighters. Poker software like Poker Tracker, Holdem Manager and Tournament Indicator have achieved real staying and power market share largely due to following the rules set out by online poker rooms such as Full Tilt Poker and Poker Stars, yet they have displayed evidence of creating clear advantages for those who use the tracking software.
