If you own a Mac, you may have been one of the many poker players that has contacted me over the last few years asking about 3rd party software that can be used on the Mac platform. The sad news of course is that these programs are few and far between. There just doesn't seem to be enough of a demand for programmers to invest in such efforts to not only get a version of their software running on a Mac, but keeping it updated properly whenever a Mac-compatible site like Full Tilt Poker decides to update their software.

I have spoken to designers about this, and most give the impression they really don't see it as a viable market, even though Mac sales continue to climb. So what's the solution? A software program like Parallels that bridges the platform gap between Mac and PC. You will see in this video I am running a game and Tournament Indicator seamlessly on my Mac desktop. I also made the decision to install XP rather than VISTA on my Parallels MAC-PC so as to keep the memory demand as low as possible.

Now all those programs like Holdem Indicator, Holdem Manager, Poker Tracker, well they are accessible to your Mac via Parallels. There is a version of Parallels for about $80US, but that will allow you to run ANY PC software on your MAC! As well, Parallels has PC to Mac version that allows you to transfer your entire OS from your current PC onto a new Mac if you decide to buy one. Its a little more at about $120 but if you are taking the big step of migrating, this will make it a whole lot more painless.

Poker software review quotes:

Online poker hasn't really been around for too long, maybe a decade or so, but as soon as it was, clever programmers were thinking about designing poker tools that could not only produce a winning edge for a player, but stretch the meaning of fair play.

Well the best poker software tools have survived an era of audacious claims made by many fly-by-nighters. Poker software like Poker Tracker, Holdem Manager and Tournament Indicator have achieved real staying and power market share largely due to following the rules set out by online poker rooms such as Full Tilt Poker and Poker Stars, yet they have displayed evidence of creating clear advantages for those who use the tracking software.
