Daniel Negreanu

Known for his exceptional reading ability, Negreanu has been playing poker and calculating odds since his teenage years in Toronto.

Daniel Negreanu, “Kid Poker,” the funny thirty-something Canadian known for his love of the game and love of new ventures. He began playing at the age of fifteen and dropped out school to pursue a career as a professional poker player at the age of twenty-one. He has three World Series of Poker bracelets and two World Poker Tour titles.

Daniel came to Vegas to pursue his dream with his built-up bankroll from playing in small, illegal games in Canada. However, his bankroll was quickly gone and he was forced to move back to Canada for a short time to rebuild his bankroll. When he returned he started off much better when he won the 1997 $1,500 Limit Hold’em World Poker Finals and added $96,000 to his account.

His tournament winnings continued with victory year after year. In fact, 2000 was the only year he did not have a top five finish in a tournament that yielded a payout over $50,000. Daniel is the second all-time leading money winner on the World Poker Tour circuit and the leading individual that has not won a World Series of Poker main event for all-time earnings. Thus far his total winnings exceed nine million dollars.

Daniel’s excellence on the poker table is seen in his keen ability to read other players’ hands and remember them. He has an amazing talent for remembering what hands particular people play as well as how they play the hand. His favorite game is No-Limit Omaha Eight although he does play everything and has been on a final table for virtually every poker game out there.

Not wanting to be known for his playing alone he has written hundreds of articles about the game, covering all the angles, possibilities and players. He also tutors players though Online Poker School. He is also available to high-profile individuals for private lessons (he taught Tobey Maguire, among others). In June 2007 he signed on with Poker Stars to become part of “Team Poker Stars” along with Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer and others. Daniel is occasionally the host of Ultimate Poker Challenge and has appeared on several poker shows including, Poker After Dark, High Stakes Poker and Late Night Poker.

Who knows what the future holds for Daniel Negreanu, but I’m sure we’re going to be seeing him for quite some time. Maybe one day he’ll join the ranks of Dan Harrington, Joe Hachem, Carlos Mortensen, Scotty Nguyen and Doyle Brunson and get his World Series of Poker main event win to match his World Poker Tour titles.

Poker software review quotes:

Online poker hasn't really been around for too long, maybe a decade or so, but as soon as it was, clever programmers were thinking about designing poker tools that could not only produce a winning edge for a player, but stretch the meaning of fair play.

Well the best poker software tools have survived an era of audacious claims made by many fly-by-nighters. Poker software like Poker Tracker, Holdem Manager and Tournament Indicator have achieved real staying and power market share largely due to following the rules set out by online poker rooms such as Full Tilt Poker and Poker Stars, yet they have displayed evidence of creating clear advantages for those who use the tracking software.
